Willie Herenton, black congressional candidate, wants election to be about race.

Willie Herenton, the former mayor of Memphis, is accusing his Democratic Primary opponent, U.S. Rep Steve Cohen of “trying to act black”.  He goes on to tell the citizens of Memphis, the black citizens in particular,  to “come off that Cohen plantation and get on the Herenton freedom train.” 

The primary is scheduled for August 5.

Since there are racists all across the sphere of humanity, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Herenton’s racist campaign is appealing to some.  There is always small portion of any population that will follow the Victimization banner whenever it is waved.  But what is disappointing is the black ministers of Memphis are not calling Herenton out.   They have been silent on this, not approving, but also not condemning.  By not voicing disapproval of Herenton’s methods, they are giving silent approval of his divisive tactics.  Taking the easy route and keeping silent on issues like this speaks volumes about the content of their character.

Cohen, who is white, has an “A” rating from the NAACP and has a track record of representing his constituents on the issues.  He has championed civil rights legislation and thrown his support into getting federal funds to schools and hospitals in his two terms in office.    He has broad support across the policitical spectrum and in the limited poll numbers for this election, he appears to be well in the lead.  And as far as I can find, Rep Cohen has not been implicated in any wrongdoing while in office.

Not so for Herenton.  He resigned as mayor of Memphis last year during a federal corruption investigation into possible misuse of his office for personal gain.  Seems there are some questions about his private real estate deals.  He will probably get a pass on that due to the recent SCOTUS ruling (link).  Also, for the past two years, he has held the city hostage as he has announced his resignation, then recanted, re-announced leaving, withdrew, and finally quit.  It is estimated that his leaving will cost the city upwards of a million dollars for the special election to replace him.

A racist weasel.  No thanks.  We’ve already got enough of them in office.

Ieshuh Griffin, “NOT the whiteman’s bitch”. Just a racist.

A independent candidate for Milwaukee’s Assembly has been denied the use of her campaign slogan on the ballot (Click here for link to story). Ieshuh Griffin, a self described “30-ish” community activist, has been using the phrase, “NOT the whiteman’s bitch” in her campaign for an open city assembly seat. In Milwaukee, independent candidates have the option of adding five words along their name on the ballot to describe themselves and the platform, but said words can not be profane or derogatory. A state board ruled the slogan was such, and denied those five words from the ballot.

This lady is race baiting pure and simple, and she just wants to perpetuate the victimization mentality among Milwaukee’s inner city blacks, with herself as the savior (sound familiar?). She is divisive and a racist, and should be called out on it by everyone, including the NAACP.

She states in her campaign literature that “SLAVERY, yes SLAVERY has returned in almost every aspect except name…” Said literature was paid for by “The Poor People’s Piece of the Pie Campaign”, Ieshuh Griffin treasurer.  (Click here for link to campaign blog post by Ieshuh Griffin)

The retiring assemblywomen who’s seat Ieshuh is running for, Rep. Annette “Polly” Williams, D-Milwaukee, stated that her constituents were unsettled by the phrase. “That phrase kind of threw them. They were just kind of surprised. . . . I think most of the people would feel kind of offended by that.” Williams said.

Naturally, Griffin is threatening to sue, claiming her Free Speech was denied. Some interesting points about this is that if she wins, can a white man run with the slogan, “Not the blackman’s bitch”?

All this makes me wonder what Griffin is actually trying to accomplish here. Is she really wanting to sit on the local government and attempt to help people, all people, or is she going to present a racist and entitlement agenda, which has been proven to only hurt those it purports to help. Or is she just in this for herself, and whatever she can grab for her own use?

Atheist’s Sue City of Lakeland over Prayer

As has been reported in many news sources (here’s one), the local chapter of Atheists have taken umbrage at the City of Lakeland’s prayer during it’s council meetings.  The president of the local Atheists, Ellen Beth Wachs stated, “Their invocation practice is discriminatory against non-believers and believers of non-Christian faith, So, we want to be fair to everyone.”

Citing violation of the First Amendment, the Atheists have filed suit in federal court on Monday.

So lets take a look at the First Amendment, in totality.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Okay, once more, with just the portion that is applicable:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Hmm.  The only thing I can think of is that the prayer is being done in a official setting, by and during a local governmental authority, which could be construed as an endorsement of said religion.  Sure, I can see where a lawyer could make an argument about that.

Except the First Amendment applies to Congress, not the City of Lakeland.

No sale, Ellen.  You should have gone with the Fourteenth Amendment and the Equal Protection clause;

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

You would have a stronger case with that than you would with the First.  You’d still loose, just not as big.

Religion permeates our society.  It is everywhere, and it is both good and bad, just like beer and pancakes.  The Atheists are attempting to promote their belief system, which is fine, it’s their right, but their ad campaign sucks.  They are not going to make points by attacking religion.  If anything, it only stiffens the resolve of the semi-devout.

And, traditionally, this has been the problem for the Atheist movement.  They have taken their belief system to the point of evangelical mania.  They are just as fervent in their dismissal of religion as the ones on the other end of the spectrum, the religious fanatics with that weird light in their eyes.

The Atheists need to chill the hell out, learn AND practice a little tolerance.  As a non-believer myself, I see no harm in allowing someone to practice their belief system, as long as they don’t advocate harm to others in a first strike capability.  If said religious people want to pity me or attempt to shun me, I’ll ignore them like I ignore other room temp IQ knuckle dragger’s.  Those that practice tolerance will receive the same from me. Give a little, get a little. And that includes the Atheists.  I didn’t ask them to piss everyone off.  But I’m asking them to stop wasting my tax money (this was filed in FEDERAL COURT) on stillborn lawsuits.

TBO, the mindless minons of censorship.

TBO has pissed me off, yet again.  They have a knack for it.  Yes, I know it’s their website, and they have this set of posted rules that if we violate them, we get our peckers whacked.

Only problem, the rules are not all inclusive.  They are, to borrow a term from the software industry, in continuous beta, ever changing, never static. You don’t know WTF is going to be allowed.  It could be something as innocent as the term URL that will get you removed.  Other times, everything seems to be acceptable.

Take tonight.  On the New Cap Being Placed on the BP Well , the following is a list of  comments that were deleted (thanks to betrothalofzombrolollol for the data collection.)

And the kicker, most folks don’t know their posts are removed.  Unless  you log out, you still see your posts.  That is deceitful and wrong.  This from an organization that owes it’s very existence to the First Amendment, to the concept of Freedom of Speech.  I’ve ranted and railed against them, sending emails and protesting the jackboot.  I’ve given them more than a fair chance to change their practices.

The funny thing is that TBO is cutting their own throat.  The comments are free content, which draws many people to their site.  This allows them to charge more for their already overcrowded flash/java heavy laden ad spaces. But the more they censor, the more people they drive away.  The only conclusion I can think of is that they think we, the posters are just too stupid to care.  Well, I do care, and I’m fed up with the hypocrisy of a NEWS organ that refuses to allow even a vestige of Free Speech.

And I’m not the only one.   I’ve seen a trend lately.  A lot of the old time posters are rarely one TBO anymore.  Some of the smart ones have moved on or out.  They’ve gotten tired of the censorship and the games, of the ever moving target of compliance that is impossible to hit.

I’m done with TBO for awhile, a long while.  I’m not saying I’ll never come back, but that option will be open until I do.

I’ll be here, or at Fireside Forums, if anyone wants to debate with me.  I’m sure the brain dead liberals will continue to utter the same mindless rants that they get from their handlers.  After all, it’s all they have.

Dontae Morris

To me, he is the personification of evil, that which is all bad and wrong in the world.  To me, he is a sociopath that needs to be put down for the betterment of society.  Two men are assuredly dead by his hand, with three others probable, all within a two to three month time frame since his release from prison.

However, it appears that Morris is getting help from his friends and family.  That is the only way I see that he has escaped the massive dragnet that has been set up.  I see a wide spread police presence in the city.  I see people concerned and I see watchful and fearful eyes.  I hear of people forgoing their civil rights in order to expedite searches.

But Dontae Morris continues to eludes capture.  I don’t understand.  He has proven himself to be a stone cold killer. What kind of a community would help him? What kind of a community would embrace a killer such as Dontae J. Morris?  What kind of a community would allow this wolf into the fold?   Morris’s adult criminal record is lengthy, and I suspect his juvie record is just as bad .  His brother is wanted on two counts of probation violation, and his sister is implicated in Morris’s capital felony flight.

The family all stands together in front of a picturesque rental home, with their pastor, asking for his safe capture.  What kind of family is this?  If I was in Morris position, my father would have dragged my lifeless body into the police station hours after the crime.  What kind of culture raises these killers?  After seeing their type again and again, you begin to wonder.  Why?  We have pumped billions of dollars into the inner cities in social programs but still the crime rate there continues.

Two wives, four children and an unborn are in need of answers.  I think they deserve those answers. Their lives have been changed beyond belief.  Their pain is enormous, and it won’t go away anytime soon.

What is the answer?  I’d really like to know.

Pat the Bean Counter.

Pat Bean is offering up a deal to the BOCC of Hillsborough County.  She is saying that if they don’t fire her for cause, she will slink away for 85% of her pay, and 85% of her vacation/sick time, to be collected while she sits on her ever expanding DROP.

What she doesn’t come out and say, what is swimming below the surface, is that if the BOCC grows a set of stones and does fire her, then she will sue the county.  She will reach out with her grubby little fingers, and take money out of each and every one of us, just like she did when she gave herself a raise.

Pat knows the system.  She knows that the county doesn’t have a legal team to fight in court, that the county will have to hire a lawyer to defend the firing, and even if we (the county) wins, we will have to pay the lawyers umpteen thousand dollars  in fees (at $350 to $500 dollars an HOUR).

Pat is betting on the bean counters to tell the BOCC to settle, rather than fight.  Pat is mad she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar, and mad that the dirt she has on some of the BOCC members hasn’t been enough.  So Pat is going to give the politicians a choice.

So why is she doing this?  If the BOCC fires her on Wednesday for cause, her DROP payout is $390K, and she will get a pension of $8600.  A month.

If she stays on the books until Dec 2011, she will get a DROP payout of $600K, and a monthly retirement of  $9200.  [source: St. Pete Times]

Meanwhile, county employees face a fourth year of lay offs, no pay raises and a second year of increased out of pocket health care costs.

Fire Pat NOW!  I would rather pay a lawyer than pay her another dime.

The Far Left and their Hate

The Far Left is running out of spin, now all they can do is throw hate.

Don’t forget that the KKK was founded by Democrats (they LOVED Margaret Sanger), and a long line of other hate groups that are just too numerous to list here. But don’t take my word for it, do your own research.

The Far Left hates it when you arm yourself with knowledge, they would rather you listen to their sound bites and manipulations.

How often do you see the Far Left hacks post original thoughts? Or even taken the time to paraphrase? I’m not talking about some liberal leaning folks, those I can talk to and listen to, for they have some valid ideas and concerns. No, I’m talking about the rabid, foaming at the mouth obama shills who attack others when obama is called to task for his lies, misconduct and general incompetence. They are but sphincters of the Progressive bowels, spewing forth the excrement of hate and bile in an attempt to smother any dissent.

The Myth of Light Rail

This is one of the things I love to rail against.  I have been digging into this subject for a couple of years, and I can tell you now that light rail is a billion dollar boondoogle.  It’s a waste of time, a waste of money, and a waste of land.  It is a 19th century solution to a 21st century problem

It would be much, much more cost effective to simply increase and upgrade HARTline into a viable bus system.  All rail scenario’s include a bus feeder system to get people to the rail system, so why not keep those people on the bus and take them to their destination?  They will be  using roads currently built, negating the need for costly right of way acquisition.   Buses are cheaper to purchase, cheaper to operate and have the ability to react overnight to changing demographics at no cost.

Light rail on the other hand, is going to require a boatload of money just to buy the land, or lease the tracks from CSX.  It’s going to be tied into one route forever, unless more costly acquisition and construction takes place.  And there has never been a light rail project that has enjoyed the projected ridership, or come in even close to being on budget.

Once you remove the myths of light rail, the choice for mass transit is easy.  Buses can move people more efficiently and at a higher average speed than light rail.  But don’t take my word for it.  Do the research with an objective eye, and you will see what I have seen, that light rail is not the solution for our problems.  It will just be another in a long line of billion dollar boondoogle by our government.

Florida GOP Credit Card Use

The buzz in Tallahassee for the past few days has been the credit cards issued to GOP politicians by the Republican Party, drawing on donated funds.  Governor Crist and State Sen. Paula Dockery (R) are calling for full financial disclosure on the use of these cards.  Others, like GOP party officials, are claiming privacy, saying that these are not government funds and do not need to be disclosed.

I’m gonna call bullshit.  The people using these cards are elected officials.  They put their entire life (sans bedroom) in the public eye when they accepted public office.  I certainly want to know what my elected official is buying with “donated” funds.  What sort of payoff for his/her vote is transpiring? And who is paying the bill?

Nationally, the GOP is attempting to ride a pushback from the current Administrations perceived fiscal irresponsibility.  In order to do so effectively, they need to be above reproach, they need to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.  So far, the Florida GOP is failing badly at this simple task.    This concept, keeping your hands clean, used to be the standard operating procedure for elected officials.  But in the last twenty years, the number of politico’s getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar has skyrocketed.  Both parties are guilty.

It’s time to all voters, Democrat, Republican and independents to voice their disapproval and vote incumbents out.  Vote in your party primary and get new blood on the ballot.  If we can fire a bunch of these too comfortable self serving hacks, then perhaps the rest will realize that we, the people of this state, are not as stupid as they think we are.

Kevin White’s Wobbling Walk

Kevin White has a long history in Tampa.  He was born in Hornell, N.Y., but moved here as a child and graduated form King High School in 1982.   Here is a link to a St. Pete Times story when he was first throwing his hat in the ring for political office.  I think it gives some insight into his motivations and mindset.

Kevin White claims to be a Navy veteran, but his service records show he enlisted on June 4, 1982, and was separated from service after only 56 days while still in recruit training.  His discharge paperwork shows he was honorably separated due his “enlisting in error”.  Another  story by the St.Pete Times shows that Mr. White claimed to be endorsed by the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, but the group denies it, stating that it does not do endorsements.  A contribution was made by the groups director of development, but that was an individual donation, not associated with the veterans group.

Mr. White applied to Tampa Police Department in 1990 and worked as a LEO for four years.  Several times he was reprimanded for being overly zealous and for his “lack of willingness to listen to others to accomplish a given task”.  He was also reprimanded three times in writing for improper vehicle chases.  One of those chases injured a civilian and cost the city $85,000 in a lawsuit. Mr. White resigned from the police force during an investigation on misuse of his police powers.  The department found that Mr. White threatened to have a man arrested if he didn’t pay Mr. White $500 for an off duty vehicle accident. He claimed he was leaving for better pay in the private sector.

Mr. White has had a few problems with his finances before the current issues.  He filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 1989, and then Chapter 13 in 1991.

In 2006, Mr. White payed out $9500 in fines for violation of election laws.  He spent over $6000 of campaign funds for tailored Italian suits and other clothing.  He used false addresses in an attempt to hide the purchases.

While on the BOCC, Mr. White has raised some eyebrows by intervening in a contract award, funneling 2 million dollars to one of his campaign contributors against the recommendation of County Staff.  You can read the story from TBO here.  Looks like political payback to me.

Kevin White’s has shown to me, that he doesn’t see anything wrong with his behavior.  To him, it is normal for someone to be judged guilty in a court of law, and to still proclaim his innocence, blaming it on the jury.  “The jury got it wrong”.  This thought process leads to the laying of guilt on Hillsborough County Government, of which he is a part, to being culpable in the “wrongful” judgment against him due to “inept”  county representation.

To me, it’s pure victim mentality.  He is reactionary, feeding off the comment de jour on his adjudged lack of discretion.  There is no doubt in my mind that he acted improperly with Ms. Ogden.  His story doesn’t past the smell test to me, and it didn’t with the jury.

I’m sure that in his mind’s eye, he is a heroic figure, suffering from the slings and arrows of outragious fortune.  Just like the fifty six days in boot camp made him a Veteran.
To be honest, that is the biggest thorn in my side.  His claiming of military service when he couldn’t pass Underwear Folding 101.  He couldn’t fathom ‘Flush and Grounded”.  What makes him think he is capable of governing Hillsborough County?  A couple of diploma mill degrees is not a booming recommendation.
